Luis Arraez holds the top spot in the 2026 MLB batting average race at approximately .318 across 135 games, reflecting his trademark contact-oriented approach and low strikeout rate while splitting time between the Giants and Phillies after an August trade. Yordan Alvarez sits close behind near .314 in 142 games for the Astros, buoyed by a superior on-base and slugging profile but trailing in pure average amid a power-heavy season. Otto Lopez, Freddie Freeman, and Yandy Díaz remain distant contenders around .300-.305, with limited realistic paths to overtake the leaders this late in the schedule. Trader consensus aligns with these recent statistical standings and Arraez’s established history of batting title contention.
