The 2026 Peterborough, Ontario mayoral election is currently scheduled to be held on October 26, 2026. This market will resolve according to the candidate who becomes the next mayor of Peterborough, Ontario as a result of this election. Temporary, interim, or placeholder mayors appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". The primary resolution source for this market will be a consensus of credible reporting; however, if there is any ambiguity in the results, this market will resolve according to official information from Peterborough, Ontario. The open Peterborough, Ontario mayoral race features seven certified candidates following incumbent Jeff Leal’s decision not to seek re-election ahead of the October 26 vote. With nominations closed in late August, trader consensus currently assigns the highest implied probabilities to Neil Morton, Keith Riel, and Michael Eamon, reflecting the absence of public polling or major endorsements that could consolidate support behind a single contender. Riel’s prior council experience provides one structural advantage, yet the field remains closely matched as voters weigh local priorities including housing affordability, job growth, taxes, and homelessness. Limited campaign visibility to date and the single-tier municipal system sustain the competitive positioning, with any late endorsements, candidate forums, or issue-specific developments in the coming weeks likely to shift probabilities ahead of election day.
