Recent energy price surges from Middle East geopolitical tensions have driven Eurozone HICP inflation to 2.9% in July 2026 and an expected 3.3% in August, accelerating the market-implied path for the 2026 annual average. ECB June staff projections place the full-year rate at 3.0%, with a quarterly peak near 3.4% in late 2026, while the SPF survey holds at 2.7%; these upward revisions from prior baselines reflect higher energy and indirect pass-through effects. Trader consensus reflected in the 66.2% probability for a 3.1%+ outcome aligns with sustained above-target readings through year-end, amid limited near-term relief from base effects or policy easing. Key upcoming catalysts include September ECB policy decisions and September inflation prints.
