Luis Arraez holds the edge in the batting average race through his elite contact skills and low strikeout rate, sitting near .316 while maintaining a substantial lead in plate appearances. Yordan Alvarez trails closely at approximately .314, bolstered by his power production and on-base consistency that keep him in contention despite fewer opportunities for pure average accumulation. With the regular season winding down in early September, the remaining schedule offers limited games for significant shifts, favoring established leaders like Otto Lopez and Freddie Freeman who post strong qualified averages around .300-.302. Trader pricing reflects this tightening contest among high-contact hitters with stable recent form.
