This market will resolve according to the official closing price for S&P 500 (SPX) on the final trading day of December 2026. If the reported value falls exactly between two brackets, then this market will resolve to the higher range bracket. If the final trading day of the month is shortened (for example, due to a market-holiday schedule), the official closing price published for that shortened session will still be used for resolution. If no official closing price is published for that session (for example, due to a trading halt into the close, system issue, delisting, or other disruption), the market will use the last valid on-exchange trade price of the regular session as the effective closing price. The resolution source for this market is Yahoo Finance, specifically the S&P 500 (SPX) "Close" prices available at https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/%5EGSPC/history, published under "Historical Prices."The S&P 500's current level near 7,719 reflects robust 2026 earnings growth, driven primarily by AI-related capital expenditures from hyperscalers, which analysts project will sustain double-digit EPS expansion through year-end. Recent stability amid rising Treasury yields above 4.8% and mixed inflation signals has supported the index's position roughly 1.7% below its August record of 7,799, with trader consensus in the Polymarket assigning the highest implied probability (38%) to a close above 8,000. This pricing incorporates resilient economic data and broadening market participation beyond mega-cap tech, while the clustered probabilities in the 7,000–8,000 ranges account for risks from potential Fed policy shifts or oil price volatility. Key near-term catalysts include the upcoming September jobs report and inflation releases, which could refine rate expectations and influence final-quarter momentum.
