Jerry Carl secured the Republican nomination for Alabama’s 1st congressional district in the August 2026 special primary with roughly 75 percent of the vote, aided by an endorsement from President Trump, positioning him to face Democrat Clyde Jones Jr. in the November general election. The newly configured district, encompassing Mobile, Baldwin, and surrounding counties under the state’s 2023 map upheld by the Supreme Court, carries a strong Republican tilt reflected in nonpartisan ratings of Solid or Safe Republican. Carl’s prior service representing the area and the absence of competitive Democratic infrastructure or significant polling support for Jones reinforce trader consensus on the outcome. Scenarios that could still shift probabilities include late-breaking scandals, health issues affecting either candidate, or unexpected legal developments tied to the redistricting process before Election Day.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
