OpenAI’s leadership has explicitly ruled out a 2026 IPO, with CEO Sam Altman calling the current environment “ill-advised” for going public amid AI safety priorities and market volatility, pushing instead for a 2027 listing at or above the $1 trillion target. The company confidentially filed earlier this year but has not scheduled investor meetings or set pricing, while its most recent private round valued it at $852 billion and fresh talks now explore a $1.2–1.5 trillion private raise. This timeline aligns with rival Anthropic potentially listing first and reflects caution over infrastructure spending and public-company reporting burdens. A sudden revenue surge or favorable regulatory shift could reopen a narrow 2026 window, though recent statements make that outcome improbable.

If OpenAI is acquired, dissolved, or merged into another entity before an IPO occurs, this market will resolve to “No.” In the event of a restructuring, the market will resolve based on the entity legally recognized as OpenAI’s successor will
