Scott Franklin holds a commanding position in the Florida 18th congressional district race due to the seat’s consistent Republican tilt, reflected in the incumbent’s 65 percent margin in 2024 and uniform “Solid Republican” or “Safe” ratings from forecasters. As a sitting member with substantial campaign resources and no primary opposition, Franklin benefits from established name recognition and district voting patterns that have favored Republicans by wide margins in recent cycles. Challenger Curtis Gibson, a former local commissioner, has raised minimal funds and faces structural headwinds in a district where Democratic candidates have struggled to exceed 35 percent. A late scandal, health event, or sharp national swing could theoretically narrow the gap, though current indicators show limited pathways for the underdog to close the distance before the November 3 general election.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
