Incumbent Republican John Moolenaar holds a commanding position in Michigan’s 2nd Congressional District, a seat with an R+15 Partisan Voter Index that forecasters across Cook, Sabato’s Crystal Ball, and Inside Elections have rated Solid or Safe Republican. Moolenaar advanced unopposed in the August 4 primary while Democrat Ben Ambrose secured his party’s nomination after a close contest; the incumbent’s fundraising advantage exceeds $1.65 million raised compared with roughly $85,000 for Ambrose. These structural factors, combined with the district’s consistent Republican voting patterns in recent cycles, underpin the trader consensus reflected in current market prices. A realistic shift would require an unforeseen development such as a major scandal, significant health event affecting the incumbent, or an exceptionally strong national Democratic environment capable of overcoming the district’s partisan baseline.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
