Addison McDowell holds a commanding position in the NC-06 race due to the district’s R+9 Partisan Voter Index and consistent “Solid Republican” or “Safe Republican” ratings from forecasters including the Cook Political Report, Sabato’s Crystal Ball, and Inside Elections. As the freshman Republican incumbent first elected in 2024, McDowell benefits from strong name recognition, substantial fundraising exceeding $1.2 million compared with Democrat Cyril Jefferson’s roughly $200,000, and alignment with the district’s conservative-leaning areas across Davidson, Davie, Rowan, and portions of Guilford and Forsyth counties. Jefferson, the High Point mayor who narrowly won the March 2026 Democratic primary, faces structural headwinds in a seat that has not supported a Democrat in recent cycles. Forecasters note limited paths for an upset, though late developments such as major national shifts, turnout surges, or unforeseen candidate-specific events could still alter the outcome before the November 3 general election.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
