Some people fall in love with Italy over a glass of Chianti. Others, like me, fall in love while sewing curtains in a 16th-century farmhouse on an olive grove in Umbria. It all started with a study abroad program in Florence that cracked my world wide open—introducing me to the poetry of piazzas, the art of a three-hour meal, and the kind of history that seeps into your soul. But a semester wasn’t enough. So I traded a desk job for an extended stay in the heart of Umbria, living with a host family where my rent was paid in stitches and stories.
That experience shaped everything that came next: founding my own travel company, where I became obsessed with psychologically matchmaking travelers to the perfect hotel—not just a place to lay their head, but a place that would change how they experienced Italy. Because a hotel is never just a hotel. It’s a setting, a mood, a window into the past. A former monastery that quiets the soul. A grand palazzo that makes you feel like nobility. A countryside villa where you wake up to the same sunrise that inspired Renaissance painters.
This is what La Storia is all about—peeling back the layers of history to reveal why where you stay matters. The boutique palazzo in Florence? Once home to a Medici mistress. The countryside estate in Tuscany? It’s been making wine longer than the U.S. has been a country. These aren’t just hotels; they are the stories that shape your experience.
