Whether you’re facing cancer yourself, supporting someone you love, or simply trying to protect your future health, you deserve more than recycled ideas and vague explanations. Th Cancer Vigilante opens the door to a completely new way of looking at cancer – the Cell Suppression Theory – a framework built from more than a decade of deep, independent research that asks different questions and uncovers patterns mainstream models often overlook. What makes this theory so relevant and distinct from other established theories, is its ability to coherently account for all 10 of the Hanahan & Weinberg hallmarks of cancer through a single underlying mechanism: cellular suppression driven by intracellular fungal pathogens.

This is an achievement not yet accomplished by any established cancer theory, indicating that the Cell Suppression Theory identifies a significant feature of cancer that has been, and continues to be, missed in conventional circles. This is why I write about the theory in a patient-friendly terms, to empower you with extra insight that may offer a more complete picture of what cancer is, and why it develops, in a way that is easily accessible to all, not just clinicians.

Why my work appeals to so many: I’m not a doctor or a trained scientist – I’m a graphic designer by background, which turned out to matter more than it sounds: pattern recognition across disciplines is exactly what the problem of cancer needs. Fundamentally speaking, cancer is simply a problem to be solved – and if you have enough data (as I believe we do), with the ability to understand that data, it’s just a matter of identifying patterns and consistencies in that data to determine the most likely root cause – what do all those patterns and consistencies point to. What replaces the missing medical credential is originality and creative thinking disciplined by systems thinking and first-principles reasoning – not being afraid to consider all possible avenues of investigation no matter how ridiculous they may at first seem, then testing every explanation against the evidence rather than accepting it because of who said it.

My motivation for the epic research marathon I undertook? I was diagnosed with cancer myself in 2006, then lost a close friend to it in 2015. I made her a promise that her death wouldn’t be for nothing.

That promise turned into more than a decade of research – over 3,000 peer-reviewed papers studied and the culmination in a new theory potentially identifying a new origin and new mechanism behind the disease. This body of work drew scrutiny from 10 international cancer experts in an event held in front of a live audience of 200 medical professionals – a six hour presentation and live debate that culminated in an average confidence score of 7.9/10 from everyone involved, including the expert panel you see below.

The work has a place on a university mycology curriculum, it’s been translated and published in French, and is producing ongoing work with a consortium of scientists and clinicians to test the theory further.

Like every established cancer theory, the Cell Suppression Theory remains unproven – that’s true of this whole field, not a special weakness of this one. What it offers is a coherent lens across all 10 hallmarks of cancer, something that other established theories struggle to achieve, and that’s one major reason why I think this publication is worth your attention while the work continues.

The other, as I just mentioned, is the ongoing testing of the theory. I’ve formed a consortium looking into establishing a pilot study, which consists of a cancer charity, scientists, clinicians and a biotech company – all graciously volunteering their time to help setup an initial trial. Come with us on this journey.

I published the Cell Suppression Theory in the book The Cancer Resolution? That’s where the all encompassing detail lives and reads like a ‘who dunit novel’, as one of my five star reviewers has commented. But my research did not stop there. I’ve learnt an incredible amount in the 3 years that has followed and I’m actively undertaking more research to refine the theory and offer more insight, as I’ve recently done with prostate cancer and the abscopal effect.

This Substack publication is where the journey continues, where I actively present new ideas, conclusions and findings in real time. At The Cancer Vigilante you’ll find clear, compassionate breakdowns of complex science, and evidence-based interpretations drawn from more than a decade of independent research most patients never get access to – alongside thoughtful explorations of what this could mean for understanding cancer, supporting patients, and even informing prevention.

By subscribing, you’re not just supporting independent science – you’re joining a community exploring whether a more coherent, biologically grounded, and hopeful perspective on cancer is possible, and if you would like to show your dedication to my work by upgrading to the Founders Circle tier, you’ll be able to shape the direction of the publication among other exclusive features.

You’re not short of information, or a coherent presentation of what’s already known – plenty of careful communicators can do that well. What’s scarce is original thinking: a new account of the mechanism itself, more than a decade in the making, translated into something you can actually follow and understand – an investigation you’re invited to help shape, not just watch.

A new interpretation of cancer:

Cancer’s Hallmarks uniquely revised through the lens of the Cell Suppression Theory and how this may surface additional options worth discussing with your oncologist.
