Recent FOMC communications, including Chair Kevin Warsh's August 31 Jackson Hole remarks and the July meeting's 9-3 hold decision with three dissents favoring a hike, have shifted market-implied odds toward potential tightening rather than easing, with futures pricing roughly 60% odds of a September move higher. Strong productivity growth, solid job gains, and an unemployment rate near full-employment levels have reduced urgency for cuts, pushing economist consensus toward holding rates steady through year-end while markets anticipate possible 2027 easing. The September 16 FOMC meeting and incoming CPI and labor data remain key near-term catalysts for repricing.
