Latest National Weather Service forecasts for Chicago on September 1 point to highs of 89–92°F under partly cloudy skies with southwest winds of 5–13 mph, driven by a lingering heat dome and southerly flow advecting warm, humid air from the central U.S. Recent model runs and observations show modest afternoon heating potential limited by scattered morning showers or clouds, keeping most guidance clustered in the low 90s. This supports the near-even market split between 90–91°F and 92–93°F outcomes, as small shifts in cloud cover, timing of any convection, or boundary-layer mixing could determine whether the daily maximum edges above or below 92°F. Historical early-September averages near 81°F underscore the current anomaly, but traders appear anchored to the latest deterministic and ensemble guidance rather than broader climatology.
