Recent July 2026 CPI data at 3.4% year-over-year, down slightly from 3.5% in June, combined with the Cleveland Fed's August nowcast of 3.37% headline and 2.38% core, anchors trader expectations around 3.3-3.4%. Persistent pressures from tariff pass-through on goods, elevated energy prices amid Middle East supply risks, and AI-driven demand for components have kept inflation sticky above the Fed's 2% target, with core PCE near 3.3%. The market-implied distribution—led by 3.4% at 45.5% and 3.3% at 32.5%—reflects aggregated sentiment that these forces will produce modest sequential moderation rather than sharp disinflation ahead of the September 11 release.
