The EU's entrenched treaty-based structure, requiring complex legal processes and broad member-state consensus for any fundamental change, underpins trader consensus that dissolution before 2027 remains highly improbable. Economic interdependence across the single market, shared institutions like the European Commission and European Central Bank, and ongoing policy coordination on trade, security, and enlargement have reinforced stability amid recent geopolitical pressures. While events such as fiscal strains or external shocks could test cohesion, historical patterns show incremental reforms rather than breakup. Realistic shifts would demand coordinated exits or systemic collapse on a scale unseen since the bloc's founding, scenarios traders price as remote given current institutional safeguards.
