This market will resolve to "Yes" if D4vd (a.k.a. David Anthony Burke) is released from custody between market creation and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". If D4vd is released but remains under house arrest, the market will still resolve to "Yes". If D4vd is released on parole, bond, or any other condition that results in them leaving state custody, the market will resolve to "Yes". Transporting D4vd to another location of custody (e.g., a different prison, court, or hospital within the correctional system) will not suffice to resolve this market to "Yes". Temporary outings from prison for purposes such as testifying in court or before Congress, while still under the custody of correctional authorities, will not count as a release. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from government authorities or corrections departments; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.**D4vd (David Burke) faces first-degree murder charges with special circumstances, plus counts of continuous sexual abuse of a minor under 14 and unlawful mutilation of human remains in the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.** Arrested by LAPD on April 16, 2026, and held without bail since his April 20 arraignment, the singer has remained in Los Angeles County custody through a July preliminary hearing where a judge found probable cause and ordered him to stand trial. Prosecutors allege the relationship began in 2023 and that Burke killed Hernandez after she threatened to expose it, jeopardizing his rising music career; graphic evidence including text messages, crime-scene photos, and post-incident purchases was presented. With arraignment set for August 31, 2026, and trial expected within roughly 90 days, the timeline points to continued detention through year-end. The 93.5% market-implied probability of “No” release in 2026 reflects traders’ assessment of the case’s severity, the denial of bail, and standard California practices for capital-eligible homicide matters. Precursor rulings and the absence of any credible release pathway reinforce this consensus. Realistic upset scenarios remain limited but include an unexpected bail grant at arraignment (already rejected once), a rapid plea deal producing immediate freedom, or unforeseen procedural dismissal—each viewed as low-probability given the evidence threshold already cleared and ongoing prosecution momentum. Entertainment markets like this hinge on verifiable legal developments rather than speculation, and the current trajectory shows no near-term path to release.
