The French Senate election on September 27 will renew 178 seats via an electoral college of local officials, with SER currently holding 64 seats including 31 up for renewal. Recent municipal results have altered some departmental majorities, creating mixed prospects for the group in both majority-vote and proportional-representation departments. Traders see limited net change overall, with the near-even split between the 59-61 and 62-64 bins reflecting uncertainty over modest losses to centrist or right-wing lists versus defensive holds in core areas. RN gains in southern departments add another variable but are not expected to directly displace large numbers of SER incumbents. Upcoming candidate finalization and any last shifts in local alliances could still adjust totals within the narrow band priced by the market.
