**Elif Eralp of Die Linke leads the market at 80.5% implied probability as the next Governing Mayor of Berlin, well ahead of Stefan Evers (CDU) at 17% and lower shares for Werner Graf (Greens), Steffen Krach (SPD), Kristin Brinker (AfD), and others.** The September 20, 2026, Abgeordnetenhaus election features a tight multi-party race in which recent polling places Die Linke narrowly ahead or competitive at roughly 22%, followed closely by the CDU, Greens, and others in the mid-to-high teens. Eralp’s position strengthened after incumbent CDU mayor Kai Wegner withdrew as lead candidate in July 2026 amid criticism of his handling of a January power outage and related statements. Stefan Evers, the current finance senator, took over as CDU top candidate. Die Linke’s momentum, Eralp’s focus on housing affordability and rents, and the realistic prospect of a left-leaning three-party coalition (Linke–Greens–SPD) explain the strong market pricing. Traders assign lower odds to alternatives because no single party is near a majority and coalition math favors the current frontrunner. The outcome hinges on final vote shares and post-election negotiations, with resolution tied to formation of the next governing coalition.
