The competitive 2026 House elections, functioning as a referendum on the current administration amid narrow Republican majorities, are sustaining trader expectations for turnout above typical midterm baselines. Democratic polling leads in the generic ballot, special election overperformance, and an enthusiasm gap favoring opposition voters have elevated mobilization signals, while redistricting shifts and primary participation trends add upward pressure. Historical patterns of 100-115 million votes in recent off-year cycles anchor the market, with the leading 115-130 million ranges reflecting uncertainty over whether sustained fundraising, economic messaging, and battleground district intensity will boost totals or if base fatigue will constrain them. The November 3 election date leaves room for late developments in voter registration and turnout operations to influence final participation.
