All votes certified for candidates or non-candidate options in the specified election are included. Invalidated or blank votes are not included. In ranked-choice or preferential systems, the first-round vote total will be used. The primary resolution source for this market will be the official results of the 2026 midterm election for Senator from New Mexico, as published by the state electoral authority responsible for certifying the results of the election; however, an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting may also be used.**The low-competition dynamics of the 2026 New Mexico U.S. Senate race, with incumbent Democrat Ben Ray Luján facing a minimally funded Republican challenger in a contest rated Solid or Safe Democratic by forecasters, form the primary driver behind trader consensus favoring 700K-750K total votes.** Democratic registration advantages and midterm turnout patterns typically produce lower participation than presidential years, while limited campaign intensity on both sides further moderates expectations. Recent voting reforms, including permanent absentee ballot access and semi-open primaries, supported above-average primary turnout of 346,460 ballots (24.6%) in June 2026 and may sustain elevated general election participation through broader independent access. These factors, alongside historical midterm benchmarks and absentee usage trends, concentrate probabilities in the 550K-800K range, with the leading bracket reflecting balanced assessments of mobilization and structural access.
