Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” holds an overwhelming lead in the 2026 VMA Best Country category because of its record-shattering commercial run, including 22 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the top spot on the Songs of the Summer chart. The track’s crossover appeal, viral momentum, and co-writing credit from Miranda Lambert have translated into broad industry and fan support ahead of the September 27 ceremony. The rest of the field—Shaboozey’s “Cowgirl,” Stella Lefty’s “Boston,” Kacey Musgraves’ “Dry Spell,” Luke Combs’ “Back in the Saddle,” Tucker Wetmore’s “Brunette,” and Lainey Wilson’s “Somewhere Over Laredo”—remains competitive on paper but lacks comparable recent chart traction or cultural visibility, leaving traders with little incentive to challenge the current frontrunner.
