Talarico’s aggressive outreach in Collin County, including large June rallies in Plano that drew thousands and highlighted Paxton’s legal record, has positioned the Democrat as the market favorite at 60% to carry the suburban county. Paxton, the Republican nominee and longtime Collin resident whose political career began there, sits at 36.5% amid a statewide race rated toss-up or lean Republican by forecasters. Recent September polls show Talarico edging or tying Paxton statewide, with strong independent support, while the county’s rapid growth and shifting suburban electorate have made it a battleground despite its Republican history. Minor candidates and other options remain at 50%, reflecting limited expected impact on the county outcome ahead of the November 3 general election.
