Recent polling averages and seat projections show the Parti Québécois maintaining a clear lead in popular vote and likely plurality of seats ahead of the October 5 election, leaving the contest for second place between the Quebec Liberal Party and the Coalition Avenir Québec. The PLQ has edged ahead in most recent surveys and models, buoyed by stronger performance in the Montreal region, while the CAQ has slipped after an earlier post-leadership bump under Christine Fréchette. Seat forecasts from aggregators such as 338Canada place the Liberals in the low thirties and the CAQ in the low twenties on average, reflecting the Liberals’ more consistent positioning as the main challenger for official opposition status. Tight regional races and undecided voters leave room for late shifts before election day.
