Incumbent Mayor Simon Yu seeks a second term in the October 17, 2026 Prince George municipal election under first-past-the-post rules, facing a crowded field that includes long-serving councillors Garth Frizzell and Kyle Sampson plus repeat challenger Roy Stewart. Frizzell’s 18 years on council and prior national municipal leadership contrast with Sampson’s emphasis on growth and public safety, while Yu highlights continuity on economic development and infrastructure. The August announcements of multiple candidacies have kept probabilities closely matched among the top three, as local name recognition and potential vote fragmentation limit any single contender’s early advantage ahead of the September nomination deadline.
