Brandon Gill, the Republican incumbent, holds a commanding position in the Texas 26th congressional district race due to the area's consistent Republican lean, reflected in Donald Trump's 19.5-point margin there in 2024 and post-redistricting maps that favor the party. Gill secured the GOP nomination in the March 2026 primary with 91% of the vote and has drawn attention for his committee work, including a bid for a senior oversight role. Democrat Steven Shook, who narrowly won his party's primary, faces structural headwinds in a district rated solidly Republican by forecasters. Trader consensus at 97.9% for Gill aligns with these fundamentals, though late developments such as a major scandal, health event, or sharp national partisan shift could still alter the outcome before the November 3 general election.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
