Lula maintains a clear lead in recent Minas Gerais polling for the October 2026 first-round presidential vote, with surveys from Datafolha, Real Time Big Data, Datatempo, and Quaest showing him at 36–39% against Flávio Bolsonaro at 28–34% and Romeu Zema trailing in single digits. As the incumbent Workers’ Party candidate seeking re-election, Lula benefits from consolidated support in Brazil’s second-largest electoral college, where every president since redemocratization has prevailed. The right-wing vote remains fragmented across Bolsonaro, Zema, Ronaldo Caiado, and lower-polling names, limiting any single challenger’s path to first place. Recent August polling shows modest narrowing of Lula’s margin in some samples but no reversal of the ordering, consistent with trader consensus on his probability of topping the Minas Gerais ballot.
