Augusto Cury’s sharp rise in recent first-round polling has positioned the Avante candidate as the clear front-runner for third place in trader assessments. A BTG/Nexus survey released August 31 showed Cury jumping nine points to 11 percent, placing him ahead of Ronaldo Caiado (5 percent) and Renan Santos (3 percent), while Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro remain locked in the top two spots. Cury’s gains stem from television interviews, social-media momentum, and appeal to voters seeking a centrist alternative amid polarization. Caiado and Santos hold steadier but lower single-digit support across multiple polls, with no comparable late-August catalysts shifting their standing. The first-round vote occurs October 4.
