Recent National Weather Service and model guidance indicate a frontal passage bringing increased cloud cover, north-to-northeast winds, and a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms to Houston on September 1, which is suppressing daytime heating and keeping maximum temperatures in the mid-to-upper 80s. This pattern contrasts with the preceding hot, mostly sunny conditions and aligns with the market’s near-even split between the 86–87°F and 88–89°F bins. Ensemble forecasts show modest spread around these values due to uncertainty in storm timing and coverage, while climatological averages for the date hover near 91–92°F. Updated model runs and afternoon observations will further refine the expected peak before resolution.
