Rockstar Games’ June 2026 announcement locking the standard edition of Grand Theft Auto VI at $79.99—paired with a $99.99 Ultimate Edition—has anchored trader consensus at a 98.6% chance the base price stays below $100. The reveal ended months of speculation that the highly anticipated open-world blockbuster might push the new AAA ceiling, especially after the studio invested over a billion dollars and built unmatched cultural anticipation. Pre-orders opened immediately at that price point, with no subsequent adjustments reported and the November 19 launch approaching without pricing revisions. While a last-minute hike remains theoretically possible given the game’s demand, historical precedent and the already-live pre-order tiers make any shift to $100+ for the standard edition extremely unlikely.
