This market will resolve according to the party of the candidate who wins the MI-07 congressional district seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2026 midterm elections. The midterm elections will take place on November 3, 2026. A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).**Michigan’s 7th congressional district remains one of the nation’s tightest House races heading into the November 2026 midterms.** The seat, anchored in Lansing and covering parts of Ingham, Livingston, Clinton, and Shiawassee counties plus slices of neighboring areas, carries a near-even partisan lean and was flipped by first-term Republican incumbent Tom Barrett in 2024. William Lawrence, the progressive Democratic nominee and former Sunrise Movement co-founder, won an August primary against more moderate challengers on a platform emphasizing opposition to data centers, higher taxes on high earners, universal health care, and foreign policy restraint. Trader pricing near 50-50 reflects the district’s toss-up status across major forecasters, Barrett’s vulnerability as a freshman Republican, and Lawrence’s ability to consolidate Democratic support and appeal to independents despite his left-leaning profile. Recent campaign developments include Lawrence actively courting voters in conservative-leaning Livingston County and responding to attacks on past statements, while both sides face heavy outside spending typical of competitive battlegrounds. Third-party candidates on the ballot add a modest wildcard for vote splitting. Key variables that could widen the margin include shifts in polling averages, turnout differentials between Democratic strongholds and suburban Republican areas, debate performances, and any late national or local developments that alter the midterm environment. The race is expected to remain among the most closely watched contests for House control.
