United Russia's commanding lead reflects its position as Russia's dominant ruling party with extensive administrative resources, Kremlin alignment, and structural advantages in the mixed electoral system ahead of the September 18–20, 2026, State Duma election. Recent party congresses featured Putin’s public endorsement, a federal list including war veterans and senior officials like Sergei Lavrov and Sergei Sobyanin, and a “people’s program” emphasizing wages and infrastructure. Registered opposition parties remain limited in scope and participation, with Yabloko removed from the federal ballot by court ruling and other groups facing registration hurdles. While state polls indicate United Russia support in the 40–50% range, the combination of single-member districts, party-list thresholds, and controlled competition produces the market’s implied probability of a large majority. Shifts could arise from major battlefield developments in Ukraine or unusually low turnout, though institutional barriers make substantial changes improbable before voting concludes.
