Idaho’s 1st congressional district remains a solidly Republican seat, where incumbent Russ Fulcher secured his party’s nomination with roughly 78 percent in the May 2026 primary and has historically carried the district by wide margins, including 71 percent in 2024. Recent polling shows Fulcher leading Democrat Kaylee Peterson by double digits, with the remainder split among minor candidates and undecided voters. The district’s partisan composition, combined with Fulcher’s incumbency advantages and Peterson’s repeat candidacy, underpins trader consensus reflected in current pricing. A November 3 general election outcome could shift only under low-probability scenarios such as a major late scandal, significant health event, or unusually high Democratic turnout in a presidential midterm cycle.
