Taiwanese local elections are scheduled to be held on November 28, 2026. This market will resolve according to the candidate who becomes the next Mayor of Chiayi City as a result of this election. Temporary, interim, or placeholder Mayors appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known, or no candidate has been elected, by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the results of the elections as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the Taiwanese government, specifically the Central Election Commission (https://db.cec.gov.tw/).Wang Mei-hui leads the Chiayi City mayoral market due to her established local profile as the city’s DPP legislator since 2020 and the party’s formal nomination in late 2025. She benefits from consistent polling leads, including a TVBS survey showing a 43-37 edge over the main challenger, and her record securing central resources for infrastructure, flood control, and social housing. Chang Chi-kai, the joint KMT-TPP nominee after winning their April polling primary, draws unified opposition backing and support from outgoing Mayor Huang Min-hui but trails in most surveys despite events focused on light-rail expansion and generational outreach. Minor candidates, including independent Huang Hung-cheng and physician Weng Shou-liang, register negligible support amid candidate registration that opened August 31. Trader consensus reflects these structural and polling dynamics ahead of the November vote.
