Incumbent Ann Wagner holds a strong position in Missouri’s 2nd Congressional District heading into the November 3 general election, supported by the seat’s consistent Republican tilt and her repeated primary victories, most recently with nearly 74 percent in August. Democratic nominee Fred Wellman, a retired Army aviator who narrowly won his primary, faces an uphill path in a district rated Solid or Likely Republican by forecasters including the Cook Political Report and Sabato’s Crystal Ball. Earlier polling showed a tight race in head-to-head matchups, with national midterm dynamics and a potential state abortion referendum cited by Democrats as possible turnout factors. Traders’ current pricing reflects Wagner’s incumbency edge and the district’s baseline partisan lean over these variables.
