Parliamentary elections are scheduled to be held in Sweden on September 13, 2026. This market will resolve to the next individual who is officially appointed and assumes office as Prime Minister of Sweden following the next parliamentary election. To count for resolution, the individual must officially assume office. Any interim or caretaker Prime Minister will not count toward the resolution of this market. If no such Prime Minister assumes office by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of Sweden; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Magdalena Andersson's commanding position in the next Swedish prime minister market stems from sustained polling leads for her Social Democrats and the broader centre-left bloc ahead of the September 13 parliamentary election. Recent surveys show the opposition holding roughly 51-52% support compared with 45-47% for Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson's Tidö-aligned parties, a gap that has narrowed modestly in August but remains decisive for bloc outcomes. Traders price in a likely red-green coalition formation under negative parliamentarism rules, with Andersson positioned to lead negotiations involving the Greens, Centre, and possibly others despite internal debates. Kristersson's bloc faces pressure from Liberal Party weakness below the 4% threshold and voter concerns over welfare, crime, and the economy, while fringe contenders such as Jimmie Åkesson and Ebba Busch register minimal support. Late campaign events, including a brief pause after a school attack, have not materially shifted the consensus.
