Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s long-running corruption trial remains in the evidentiary phase after he concluded 98 days of testimony in June 2026. Judges in the Jerusalem District Court have reiterated concerns first voiced in 2023 that prosecutors face significant hurdles proving the central bribery charge in Case 4000, though they have not dismissed it. Remaining defense witnesses, closing arguments, and a verdict from the three-judge panel are expected to stretch proceedings well into 2027 or later, with no conviction issued to date. Netanyahu continues to contest all counts of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust as politically motivated. These procedural realities and the absence of any imminent resolution underpin traders’ consensus that conviction is unlikely.
