The federal funds target range remains at 3.50%-3.75% after the July hold, with market-implied odds via futures and prediction platforms now favoring a possible 25-basis-point hike at the September 15-16 FOMC meeting over easing. Recent communications from officials and revised economist forecasts highlight a more hawkish stance, contrasting earlier expectations for cuts. Key upcoming catalysts include the September CPI and PCE releases plus the FOMC decision itself, which could clarify whether resilient growth delays any policy easing into 2027.
