OpenAI’s September 8 announcement that an unreleased internal model solved the Navier-Stokes Millennium Problem in 88 hours using thousands of coordinated agents has intensified trader focus on Epoch AI’s FrontierMath: Open Problems benchmark. This follows 2026’s pattern of verified AI breakthroughs on previously unsolved research questions, including the hypergraph and 2-adic Galois problems already marked solved. Competitive pressure from Anthropic’s Claude Fable series and Google models, combined with rapid gains on FrontierMath tiers and Lean formalization, suggests additional verifiable solutions could appear quickly. Key near-term catalysts include Epoch’s next verification updates, GPT-6 Astra evaluations, and any new open problems added to the benchmark before the September 30 or December 31 resolution windows. Market-implied odds reflect high confidence that the pace of progress will continue.

Any problems that Epoch AI already classified as solved before market issuance will not qualify for resolution. Only problems newly classified by Epoch AI as solved after market issuance may qualify. If Epoch AI adds new problems to FrontierMath: Open Problems after market creation, those problems will be considered for resolution.
This market will resolve solely based on Epoch AI’s classification or official determination that a qualifying problem has been solved, regardless of the degree of artificial intelligence involvement. A verifier-accepted submission, publicly posted solution, partial result, or third-party claim will not qualify on its own unless Epoch AI recognizes the problem as solved.
The primary resolution source will be official information from Epoch AI, including https://epoch.ai/frontiermath/open-problems.
