Incumbent Mayor Patrick Johnstone of Community First New West holds a clear lead in trader pricing for the October 17, 2026, New Westminster mayoral contest, reflecting his established incumbency and party majority on council. Challenger Councillor Daniel Fontaine of the New West Progressives positions the race around calls for greater accountability, taxpayer focus, and policy balance after four years of council divisions. Recent campaign activity has centered on platform contrasts regarding housing affordability, public safety enforcement, street maintenance, and support services for unhoused residents, with Johnstone emphasizing continuity on progressive initiatives and Fontaine highlighting resident concerns over responsiveness at city hall. No other candidates register meaningful market movement, consistent with the two-party structure of the local election.
