Latest National Weather Service and private model guidance for New York City on September 1 points to a minimum near 70°F, driven by persistent southwesterly flow advecting humid maritime air, widespread cloud cover limiting nocturnal radiative cooling, and an urban heat island that typically adds 2–4°F to overnight lows relative to rural stations. With 50% storm chances and dew points in the low 70s, the overnight temperature drop will be modest, favoring the tightly bunched 70–73°F market outcomes that together exceed 64% implied probability. Minor model spread in timing of any clearing or shower activity creates the close contest between the two leading bins, while historical early-September climatology (average low ~66°F) underscores how current warmth has shifted trader consensus higher.
