**Massive AI infrastructure spending by hyperscalers, exceeding $1 trillion across 2025–2026, has fueled bubble concerns amid lagging revenue returns.** Central banks like the BIS highlighted in June 2026 how the capex surge by Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Meta, and Oracle mirrors past manias, with risks of a sudden investment pullback, debt strains, and broader economic fallout if productivity gains disappoint. OpenAI and peers continue reporting heavy losses despite rapid model advances, such as recent agentic systems and GPT-family releases, while competitive pressure from Chinese developers and questions over real-world ROI keep sentiment mixed. Trader odds reflect this uncertainty, with low implied probabilities for an immediate burst by year-end but focus on 2027–2028 as debt obligations mature and earnings scrutiny intensifies. Key near-term catalysts include quarterly results and major AI conferences that could clarify adoption metrics.
