Incumbent Democrat Don Davis holds a narrow polling edge over Republican nominee Laurie Buckhout in North Carolina’s 1st district ahead of the November 3 general election. The seat was redrawn in late 2025 to shift its partisan baseline toward Republicans, though recent surveys, including a June GQR poll showing Davis at 45 percent to Buckhout’s 41 percent, keep the contest close. Forecasters rate the race a toss-up or lean Republican. Trader consensus at 61.5 percent for Democrats appears driven by Davis’s incumbency, established fundraising, and expected turnout patterns in the eastern counties, while Buckhout’s primary victory and the map’s structural tilt support the Republican share near 38.5 percent. No major late developments have altered positioning in the final weeks.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
