Harshan Ramadass holds a modest lead in the Fernie, BC mayoral market ahead of the October 17, 2026 vote, reflecting his strong 2022 councillor performance and May 2026 campaign launch centered on infrastructure upgrades, permitting reforms, and fiscal sustainability. Kyle Hamilton, another sitting councillor who declared earlier, trails while emphasizing senior-government funding advocacy, diversified housing, and wastewater solutions. Incumbent Mayor Nic Milligan’s decision not to seek re-election opened the contest between these two experienced candidates with overlapping priorities on aging systems and development pressures. Nomination filings open September 1, leaving room for additional entrants, while limited recent polling or endorsements keeps probabilities closely contested pending further campaign developments.
