Taiwanese local elections are scheduled to be held on November 28, 2026. This market will resolve according to the candidate who becomes the next Mayor of Taipei as a result of this election. Temporary, interim, or placeholder Mayors appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known, or no candidate has been elected, by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the results of the elections as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the Taiwanese government, specifically the Central Election Commission (https://db.cec.gov.tw/).Chiang Wan-an maintains a commanding lead in the November 28, 2026, Taipei mayoral race due to his status as a popular KMT incumbent with strong city-level approval ratings near 65 percent and consistent polling advantages, such as a May 2026 TVBS survey showing him ahead of DPP nominee Puma Shen by roughly 26 points. Taipei’s partisan lean toward the KMT, combined with Shen’s relatively untested electoral profile and background as a legislator, reinforces trader consensus around the frontrunner. Candidate registration opened August 31 with limited additional contenders, including low-profile entries like Kuo Hsi. Shifts could occur from late scandals, significant third-party vote splitting, or major shifts in national sentiment before election day, though current fundamentals point to structural barriers for challengers.
